Fire-resistant (FR) apparel—also known as flame-resistant apparel—is made from materials that are inherently resistant to catching fire. In contrast, fire- or flame-retardant apparel is chemically treated to self-extinguish. (Fire-retardant clothing offers a lesser level of protection than fire-resistant clothing, so make sure you know what level of protection you’re looking for, and don’t buy fire-retardant if fire-resistant is what you need. And note that neither category of clothing is wholly fire-proof.) Here at Outdoor Equipped we carry a variety of FR clothing and footwear from several premium workwear brands.
