Belleville Shoe Mfg Co was founded in 1904. They received their first order for combat boots in World War I, and again were awarded contracts by the War Department in World War II. Belleville Boots continues to be the leading provider of combat, protective, flight and tactical military boots for the US Department of Defense (DoD). They're the oldest and largest provider of military boots to the US government. The brand employs a host of technologies to match the boot’s specific purpose -- innovations developed by Belleville, or licensed from other companies, such as Vibram and Merramax outsoles, GORE-TEX, Thinsulate, which adds warmth without bulk, Nomex flame resistant material, and Ortholite insoles with moisture wicking and antimicrobials. But Belleville retains the materials and technologies that are proven performers: the brand only uses full-grain cowhide leather in its boots because of its durability, breathability, and comfort.
